Certain places in or near Fountain City have contributed to the educational or cultural climate or have otherwise made a difference in the lives of the people in the community.
Whittle Springs was one of those places.
The pool was across the Pike from the hotel and gave pleasure to adults and children alike well into the 1960s.
Many of the important places were considered in Nanny Lee Hicks' classic "History of Fountain City" (Coleman Printing Company, 2000). However, Whittle Springs was not discussed in the book.
